HUMMING YOUR HEALING TOUCH
FOUR PART HARMONY
”Humming Your Healing Touch” shows how to combine elements of the previous videos together in a kind of four part harmony, which people can practice in the safety and privacy of their own home. The video provides an efficient sequence of self-healing steps for calming oneself, tuning into feelings, tapping emotional meridians bilaterally, and humming self-affirmations while recalling moderately disturbing memories. The video's humming sounds alternate from right to left audio channels, enhancing bilateral brain stimulation. For the full effect, we suggest the use of stereo ear phones. Practitioners can measure their progress towards dissolving disturbing emotions, by rating their emotional intensity on a 0-10 point scale, at the end of each round of emotional tuning.

IMAGINED EXPOSURE THERAPY
Emotional tuning is a very gentle form of imagined exposure to the traumatic event. If necessary, it can set the stage for involvement in more direct exposure and virtual reality techniques outlined in the PTSD literature. The video provides the viewer with a dissociative technique that allows them to approach their traumatic event from a distance, so they are not overwhelmed with disturbing emotions.
After practicing the protocol demonstrated in Video 5, people should be able to recall or imagine a traumatic event without experiencing such disturbing feelings. The traumatic event can be remembered from the past, experienced in the present as a flashback, or imagined in the future as a threat. If the original traumatic event created fear, the fear of re-experiencing this can result in escalating panic attacks.
Emotional tuning reduces disturbing feelings previously associated with the traumatic event and corrects the erroneous idea that tension stays in the body forever. Repeated exposure to the traumatic event, through this highly structured video program, helps people realize that remembering the trauma is not dangerous if done carefully.
